What is e-waste?
E-waste is electronic waste. This includes any old, unused or broken electronic appliance including computers, and mobile phones

The Global E-Waste Monitor 2020 reported that e-waste increased by 21 per cent in the five years to 2019 and predicted that by 2030, it will be almost double the 2014 figure, making it one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. This waste stream is a significant hazard to the environment and human health if not disposed of properly.

Why should e-waste be recycled?

E-waste contains precious resources including gold, glass, steel, copper, zinc, aluminium, platinum, plastic and brass which can be recovered and recycled into new products. When recycled properly, 90-95% of e-waste components can be recovered. E-waste recycling also ensures that hazardous substances such as mercury and lead in your electronic devices are disposed of correctly.
